Rev. Ledeboer’s Catechism Book
Rev. Ledeboer was a minister in the Netherlands in the 19th century. He was born at September 30, 1808, and died in October 1863. He was installed as a minister in the Dutch Reformed Church, the state church in the Netherlands, at Benthuizen. This church became more and more liberal. Ledeboer wanted to return to biblical preaching and to the Dutch confessions. Because of this, the state church deposed him. He began to plant churches outside of the main denomination. Both the state itself and the state church persecuted him for preaching in his own churches. In 1907, the churches of Rev. Ledeboer continued into two denominations. First from the Old Reformed Congregations in the Netherlands of Rev. Boone, and second the Netherlands Reformed Churches (GG) of Rev. G.H. Kersten. Rev. Ledeboer wrote a little catechism booklet to teach children the basics of the Bible.
